WESTMORELAND’S PAUL BERCH DECLARES CANDIDACY FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

Westmoreland, NH – Paul S. Berch of River Road, Westmoreland, N.H. has announced his candidacy for the Cheshire District 1 State Representative seat. Cheshire District 1 is comprised of the Towns of Gilsum, Surry and Westmoreland.

Berch said, “As a Democrat, I am running to assure our neighbors and friends that we can create jobs and work our way through this economic downturn without destroying the safety net on which many rely.”

Berch continued, “I want to make sure that the Legislature in Concord spends the time necessary on issues that matter – jobs, the economy, education and infrastructure. “

“And, I am a candidate who believes that we must return fairness and civility to our politics.” Berch added.

After a career of public service, Berch will bring fairness and civility both to Concord and to decision-making in our own towns.

Berch is a well-known advocate for children and adults, as well as a guardian for the elderly. He is a former Acting Judge and former President of the Windham County Bar Association.

Berch said, “I am a skilled negotiator who can fashion solutions that reflect the needs and wishes of our local communities.”

“As neighbors and community, the lives we lead and the problems we face are connected” Berch said, “We solve problems by working and listening to each other and remembering that we are all in this together.”

Berch continued, “By working together, we can create jobs, protect the environment, be safe and respect the constitutional rights of all.”

“We can tax fairly and we can spend fairly—never forgetting that what is fair for our neighbors is fair for us all,” Berch concluded.

Committee Election

Dear Cheshire County Democrats,
Please join us on Thursday, May 13th 6:30 for a meeting to elect a new executive committee.  Registered Democrats may vote.

We are, as per By-Laws, a month early, but we would like to have the new board in place so that they may attend the upcoming NHDP Convention May 22nd. Since this will be a tough election year, we feel strongly that we need to have all the tools and training we can in order to be a strong organization. We have been granted permission by the NHDP to hold this election early.

This meeting will take place at the E.F. Lane hotel on Main Street in Keene.

We hope that many of you will be able to attend. This will be a brief meeting, and we will move forward, beginning in June, with our regular monthly meetings.

At the end of the day, by long House tradition, Unanimous Consent  is given to individual House members to talk about, well, pretty much anything.  Today, we had one member give a remembrance of a former member of the House who passed away recently.  Another member detailed some Civil War history.  In between, there was this remarkable speech, given by BlueH […]
